A Major Retirement Risk Beyond Market Volatility: Long-Term Care

How expensive is long-term care and who should start planning for it?

Recently, one of the retirement planning questions I’ve been asked most often isn’t about the stock market or 401(k)s. It’s this:

How should we plan for Long-Term Care (LTC)?

This is also a topic that many people over 50 are becoming increasingly concerned about yet often don’t know where to begin.

How expensive is long-term care? Does Medicare cover it? At what age should you start thinking about it? Should you consider traditional LTC insurance, a Hybrid or Linked-Benefit product, life insurance with an LTC Rider, or simply set aside your own assets to cover future care expenses?

I’ve organized some of the most common questions into this short video. My goal is to use just a few minutes to help viewers better understand long-term care risk from different perspectives, and the range of planning approaches that may be available.

LTC is not simply an insurance issue. It is also part of retirement planning, asset protection, and overall wealth management.

If you’re thinking about retirement and aging-related planning for yourself or your parents, this may be an important topic to understand well in advance.

One of the biggest risks in retirement may not be market volatility, it may be entering retirement without a plan for Long-Term Care.

I hope you enjoy the video, and I’d be glad to hear your thoughts and questions.
